Rev. Alicia Vanisko aliciav@calumc.org, (410) 268-1776 |
Alicia grew up in Howard County, as did her husband Brian. She has a bachelor’s degree in music with a minor in economics from St. Mary’s College of Maryland. She holds a graduate degree in counseling from Shippensburg University in Pennsylvania.
Alicia's family includes her three children, Karen, Jason, and Allison as well as three dogs, a cat and eleven rabbits. Alicia’s brother has a small farm in western Howard County. The family works together raising beef cattle, market sheep, and egg laying hens. Fair week is always a busy time for the Vanisko family since they are active in 4-H. They show all of their market and breeding animals, show their dogs in various obedience trials, and do a lot of demonstrations on agriculture.
Alicia has been working in the church since 1997. She began working in youth ministry and Christian education. She worked in these fields until 2008 when she was appointed as a student pastor to Alberta Gary Memorial UMC in Columbia. In 2010, Alicia graduated from Wesley Theological Seminary with her Masters of Divinity Degree and was commissioned as a provisional elder at Annual Conference. She is thrilled to be at Calvary and enjoys being in ministry with us. In her spare time, Alicia enjoys spending time at the beach, reading, cross stitching and scrapbooking.
