Cost: $110 (Covers room and board while at Henderson Settlement)

Henderson Settlement is a mission agency of the United Methodist Church within the Red Bird Missionary Conference. Their mission is to lift up Jesus Christ by providing basic needs in Appalachia through God’s love. The communities Henderson Settlement serves are located in remote areas of their respective counties. Official poverty rates range between 35% and 45% for all ages. Eighty percent of the families with school children are either poverty level or low-income level. Underemployment and unemployment is 40%.

We will be sleeping in a dormitory. Meals will be provided in the community dining hall.

Type of work:
Home repairs (and alternative projects such as sorting clothes in the Thrift Shop, working in the Craft Shop, library, greenhouse, or food pantry, cutting Campbell’s Soup labels, or helping with the Youth Ministry or young mothers program). ALL SKILL LEVELS ARE WELCOME. A loving heart and a willingness to work are all that you need.
