To Sign Up:
• Review the sign up chart below and select a date and time that is convenient for your schedule.
• Click on the blue "Sign Up" link and complete the requested information (name, email and telephone number). Remember the email address you use to sign up; you will need this address if you want to cancel it later.
To Cancel or Change a Previous Sign Up:
• Click the red "X" to the left of your sign up, and enter your e-mail to confirm your identity.
• If you cancel within one week of the day that you are scheduled to read, please also send an email directly to kim@mcreynoldselek.com or call at 410-956-2111 so that we may replace you.
FOR GROUPS such as the United Methodist Men (UMM):
The United Methodist Men (UMM) have agreed to read on the last Sunday of every month. A “UMM” designation is placed in this calendar slot, allowing more time for your group leader to identify individuals willing to read. To replace the UMM placeholder with your name:
• Click the red “X” and a box will pop up;
• The box will ask for an email address; you must enter “UMM” when prompted and click “Submit” -- this will remove the “UMM” placeholder;
• Click on the “Sign Up” button and you can now insert your own information (name, email, phone number).
• If you’d like to check that the system has accepted your entry, you must refresh your screen or log back in and out of the Readers page.
Frequently Asked Questions
How will I find out what scripture I’m supposed to read?
By Thursday evening or early Friday morning prior to the Sunday that you are reading, the scripture will be posted on this page under the column heading “Scripture.” Also, during that timeframe, Kim Elek will send a reminder email with your scripture information. If you do not have email, you will be called.
Should I adjust the microphone?
Yes! Please adjust the microphone to the height of your mouth and speak into it.
What Bible should I use?
You may use the lectern Bible, pew Bible or your own.
How do I begin and end my reading?
• You should begin by saying, “Today’s scripture reading is taken from [BOOK/CHAPTER/VERSE].”
• You should end with, "The word of God for the people of God."
• The congregation replies, "Thanks be to God."
• After their response you may return to your seat.
